Summary Post

                                                                         Summary

Why is research important in the media industry?

It is important in the media industry because you will need to know about the positives and the negatives also the advantages and the disadvantages of any product. You will need to avoid on the negatives and disadvantages to get the public to be on your side and would seduce them on getting the product. Also another reason why research is important in the media is that you would try and get the public attention by knowing what they want and whats good so they would  find some interest in the product. You should make it original make it like its your idea and no one else's also you need to make the customer interested on the product try and advertise it around the world and all of the people what they haven't experienced on yet.

Before you make a product?

Before making the product about a video game you will need do a focus group on how much the budget is going to be for a game and what is the limit for it or maybe if you feel confident you could risk on spending more on your budget and thinking that after you make the game you could earn more on what you spent on the game. After you decide on the budget after that you might want to look at primary research to see if you could come up with something original and never have been invented before but if you need you might need to do a secondary research to get ideas about your game and get all of these information on the secondary research and gather all the information together and make something different and something new to get the customers attention.

During production?

During the production on making the game you might need to look up on primary research, this is important because you will need to find out what games are the most popular this year and developing the game by making it original like what genre of the game is also the type of game it is and making the sound of the game, the graphics, the characters in the game and maybe if the game has got a story or not by making an original game with primary research. But if you are quite struggling you might need to look up on secondary research to get some help and information on the production on the game your making. Like getting some secondary research on what type of game it is and maybe the genre of the game or the sound, graphics or characters. But at the same time try and making it original your game could sell more.

After production?

After the production and your game as been realised you will need to look at quantitative research to find out how much you sold on your game and the numbers you sold on it also how much you made from that game. You will gather all of these information to see the overall price and how much you sold from the game. After that you will need to look at qualitative research to see the peoples opinions about your game and see what the advantages and disadvantages about your game. You would get all of these information in like a forum and see peoples discussion and views about the game and they will talk about your game. And you might want to think about what the people say and you might want to improve on your game and probably make a better one make another game to improve on it.

Qualitative

Qualitative research is where you find peoples opinions like a focus group, in depth interviews, content analysis, evaluation and semiotics are among the many approaches that are used, but qualitative research in its most basic form involves the analysis of any unstructured data, including open ended survey response, literature reviews, audio recordings, pictures and web pages. Like in film they will make a review about that certain film and they will comment on what they will say and whats good and bad about it. Same goes for game reviews they will comment on whats good about the game and what bad about the game, the reviewers will probably do a focus group and talk about these thing and get information and opinions about that film or game. They might do a table to get these information like saying how good is the film and they would probably rate it as strongly agree, agree, average, disagree, strongly disagree. They would make the answers like that to get other peoples opinions.

Advantages

Qualitative research has its own set of strengths with qualitative esearch it will be easier to gain a better understanding of the target market because the type of questions that are asked during the research process begin with the word why. Why is a much more perful word that when, how much, and what. With the understanding of why when they could reach out to even more people with tha knowledge in the event that they advertise new and existing products.

Qualitative research is useful during te early stages of a study when the researchers may be unsure of exactly what will be studid or what to focus on. The type of research does not need a strict design plan before it begins. This gives the researcher freedom to let the study unfold more natuarally.

Disadvantages

A disadvantage to this type of research is that assumptions really cannot be made outside the scope of the sample. You can only gather the information that the small group gave to you and a safe assumption of the rest of the population would not be feasible. It's not a research method that allows for statistical data but that can easily be overcome by adding in another research method like mixed research.

The researchers of a study using qualitative research is heavily involved in the process, which gives the researchers a subjective view of the study and the researchers interprets the data gathered. Another disadvantage is that this research method is very time consuming and can last for months or even years.

Heres an example of a qualitative table the table shows that to get the information you have to do a yes or a no question answer and gather all that information to get other peoples opinions.

Quantitative

Quantitative refers to the numerical acts and figures that are collected during a research and investigates data that are measured on a numerical scale such as histogram, chart and more.

Quantitative is when it includes numbers, tables, charts, ratings and sale figures for example like the sale figures it will explain how much sales it will get with newspaper, video games or magazines. To keep these information they will do it in a bar chart, pie chart and more to keep these information in number figures and how much or how many people would get these particular game or magazine. This is important to the media industry because of the famous companies like Rockstar the game that they made, it will give numbers information on the people that buys that game. And also about the film industry you could see which film is mosted watch on and which is less watched.

Advantages

Its easy to find and  keeps things simple like the number wise and will be more simple to calculate information.

Easier to understand beacause it is put into a graph or chart make things more easy to read and get information out of.

Another advantage about the quantitative research is that the research can be conducted on a large scale and gives a lot more information as far as value and statistics.

Disadvantages

The information for the charts or graphs could not be up to date and maybe a long time so people might get the wrong information about certain things.

It is more costly than using qualitative research even though it comes with advantages because of the larger scale of research, it may not be necessary for the type of research that needs to be done.

Quantitative research is that numbers change often so if research conducted on a statistical level then it would have to be conducted much more frequently to help balance out the consistent changing numbers.

This is an example of a quantitative research and shows information on a table on how many people would listen to a certain radio station also shows more information on hours they would listen to and other information that includes quantitative.

Primary Research

Primary Research

A primary research is an original data and it can be accomplished through various methods, including questionnaires and telephone interview in market research. With questionnaires they will either interview you or send you by email. It is undertaken after the reseacher and gained some insight on the issue because of collecting secondary data research. This can be form including the questionnaires, direct observation and telephone also the interviews on the others.

Advantages of Primary Research

  • Getting more information in person.
  • Researchers can focus on both qualities and quantitative issues researchers can focus on both qualities.
  • Might get answers that are in more detail.

Disadvantage of Primary Research

  • Primary data may be very expensive in preparing and carring out the research.
  • Some people might rush their quesions.
  • People would think it's a waste of time.
  • They might give you invalid answers.
Primary research is used to collect data for specific task. Types of primary data collection methods includes personal obsevation and the aim is to obsrve consumer responses and behaviour to a product or customer service. Personal interviews like face to face interview betwen an interview and the respondent at home or public places.

Secondary Research

Secondary research is a research that's already out their with other people already made it and its the cheapest to get information since that its already exist. There are many ways to access different secondary research.
  • Internet
  • Magazines
  • Journals
  • Newspaper
  • Books
  • Encyclopedia
  • Documents
These are the benefits using secondary sources includes saving time and money and may provide information and access to historical data and maybe useful for putting research into context. Secondary research is a method of collecting data that has already been gathered by someone else. It is a technique used when performing marketing research. it is a useful method as i allows the researcher to identify a topic rather than one that has been researched.

Advantages of Secondary Research

Easy of access like the advantage to use secondary research. This includes relative ease of accessing to many souces of secondary data.

Low cost use of secondary  data as allowed researchers access to valuable information for little or no cost to acquire.

May show difficulties in conducting primary research in may cases the originators of secondary research include details of how the information is collected. And this may include information detailing the procedures used in data collection and difficulties encountered in conducting he primary research.

Disadvantage of Secondary Research

Incomplete information in many cases researchers find information that appears invalid answers also the researchers may not get the full information and gain the full value of the study.

Conclusion in the use of secondary research offers many significant advantages to the researchers. It is important for the researchers to manage the disadvantage that are use by secondary researchers.

This is an example of secondary research showing table that shows that it is a secondary research by someone already doing it and giving you the information that you need and shows that it is a quantitative research with the digits and shows you the radio and alot of information on which radio station is more famous.
